Helen Mirren is the Queen

The very highlight of this London trip was “The Audience” with Helen Mirren as Queen, talking to her Prime Ministers.

One could ask, was should be interesting about such a thing and for sure it is very British and you could not have done it in Germany eg. But it was exciting and very funny from the first moment. Helen Mirren is incredible!

Near the end there were technical problems, the light on stage was off. Then Mrs. Mirren stepped to the front of the stage and told us – all the Queen – that there would obviously be a problem, but they would continue soon. After that the stage manager came on stage and explained about the problem.

The short break allowed Mrs. Mirren to tell an anecdote: in front of the theater there had played a percussion group. I did not hear it during the performance but some people were disturbed. So during the interval Mrs. Mirren – fully dressed as Queen – went out and asked the people to stop. Her appearance would have helped, she meant…
